Membership meeting on 4/20

It was a pretty decent turnout.

We discussed Policy, Membership, and Blockyard fund issues.

Namely, that we are going to start having new members apply for membership and let the membership committee decide if they are a good fit. The goal of this is to protect the open-source mentality we love so much.

I also explained how the Operating agreement has changed slightly and that I will post it for review before submitting it. Some minor changes only, just wording about committees and boards and stuff like that…

The renovations are coming along. I received 3 bids for fixing the bathrooms and adding a kitchen to include a shower, washer/dryer, filtered drinking water, and hot water heaters.

We are also hooking up an air conditioner in the break room this week.

We are still working on getting some more bandwidth up here. This will take a little more time but it is coming.

The CodeBlock school is growing as well and we will have Block 2 on Monday 7-9 if you want to come out! Check out what is required above under the CodeBlock tab.

Block0 recap

On Monday evening April 2nd, we had our first CodeBlock class. In our newly carpeted classroom we had 5 students and it was taught by Lance Cleveland.

Lance posted a prep sheet here.

It was a great time, we talked about the types of projects we want to work on as a class and discussed the open source culture we are striving for.

We helped each other set up our developer’s environment and Lance set us up with the tools he is going to use for this class. That way we are all on the same page and are able to move forward faster as a group.

We discussed VVV and Vagrant and how they interact with Virtual Box. We learned how to install and run the VM on Windows and Mac.

The next class is Block1 on April 15th (7PM-9PM) and will most likely cover Git and best practices. Then we will probably decide on what we are going to build as our first project.

First Founders Meeting

We had our first Founders Meeting on March 2nd and had 13 people here.

We established 3 committees; Membership, Policy, and Blockyard Fund.

We got some good ideas for the Operating Agreement which is now under review.

We did introductions with everyone to get a feel for the different expertise that was in the room. It was definately a very skilled group.

The next meeting will be planned soon and I hope to have even more renovations complete before then.

Stay tuned.
